DJ CHOSE AND MANNY SOLO’S NEW SINGLE HIGH OR LOW
OUT - JANUARY 27

Nashville, TN (January 16, 2023) - 10x platinum hip-hop artist DJ Chose teamed up with esteemed pop singer Manny SOLO to create the highly anticipated upcoming single “High or Low,” out everywhere January 27. The single, released under Nashville-based Lex Music Group Records, is the first song of 2023 for both artists.

“Without the lows, the highs couldn’t be reached. The comebacks need setbacks,” explains Manny. “Without darkness, we couldn’t appreciate the stars.” The lyrics detail how one’s life can shift from the elation of success to the pains of hardship in an instant. Life is inherently full of highs and lows, but that bittersweet juxtaposition is also something to be celebrated.

DJ Chose raps, “I ain’t smiled in a minute. The real world cruel to you in’t. Family act like strangers til’ you win. All these losses I should be up in the Guinness. I just keep going because you ain’t finished til’ you finished.” Adversity builds character and who would any of us be without character?

The song, a mixture of urban, pop, and island vibes, is bound to be a welcome addition to pop and hip-hop playlists alike beginning January 27. The catchy and thought provoking track is certainly an early 2023 highlight for Chose, Manny, and the LMG Records team.

ABOUT DJ CHOSE

Houston DJ/producer/rapper DJ Chose scored charting hits both behind the decks and as the main attraction, working with rap stars like Kevin Gates, PNB Rock, and Akon as well as releasing well-received solo tracks. He came into the spotlight as early as 2011 with work on Brook Gang's Billboard-charting single "Pop That." From there he went solo, moving clubs with songs of his own on albums like 2020's Took Me Forever.

DJ Chose was born Norman Payne in 1990 and spent some time growing up in Youngstown, Ohio. He was exploring rapping and production in high school, and got his big break in Houston in 2009 when Swishahouse DJ O.G. Ron C. added him to his stable of Chopstar DJs. He also joined the Swishahouse group Brook Gang, who in 2011 had a party rap hit with "Pop That." Chose went solo in 2012 with his debut album Right Place Right Time and continued work as a producer, working on tracks for Uncle Luke, Kirko Bangz, Dorrough, and others. In 2013 he released single "Everywhere I Go," which did so well it drew the attention of Think It's a Game Records, which signed Chose. He released multiple mixtapes and projects over the next several years, developing a sound that was spacious and heavy on both bass and provocative lyricism. Highly prolific, Chose released solo material like 2016's Pray They Ready and 2019 mixtape Tripolar while producing tracks for artists like Kevin Gates, Kodak Black, NBA Youngboy, and many others. In 2020, he released studio album Took Me Forever, as well as the stand-alone track "THICK." "THICK" was streamed in the tens of millions, and a remix featuring Megan Thee Stallion also hit the tens of millions mark.

ABOUT MANNY SOLO

Manny SOLO is on the cusp of something big. Born Emmanuel Melse, the Rhode Island native spent his childhood obsessed with the rising genre of hip-hop while maintaining strong ties to his Haitian culture and the music associated with it. Upon entering high school, SOLO moved to Central Florida and began crafting his own music.

It wasn’t until 2018 when Manny hopped on a “U Name It” social media challenge that he began to see a small, but loyal fanbase trickling his way. Noticing an opportunity, he unleashed a number of remixes to prominent songs by the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Cardi B. Manny’s remixes garnered a healthy buzz, particularly in relation to his unique delivery and efficient wordplay. To this day, Manny continues to ooze the lyricism of a forgotten age paired with a production style that embraces the island rhythm of his homeland. Prepared to release a lot more music in 2023, SOLO is a force to be reckoned with!
